What is pilates?
Pilates is a system
of exercises designed to educate the body by developing
balance and efficient movement patterns. The use
of breath, movement visualization and mental focus,
stretch, coordination and strength, enable the body
to find a way of functioning that is unifying and
expansive. By doing so we help the body to heal the
imbalances that cause structural dis-ease and chronic
pain. |

Who is Pilates
for?
Pilates is
intended as a tool to teach any type of body. The
exercises can be modified to suit the needs of each
student from those who are in need of rehabilitation
to those in need of extreme challenge. No matter
what you are seeking Pilates is unique in its ability
to tone and balance the musculature and overall anatomical
structure. You will feel longer, stronger, more powerful
and energized and in better control of your body.
These qualities unify to create a self-confidence
and physical awareness that radiates. |

How to get started
The recommendation is to begin with at least two private lessons per week. This helps to create forward momentum in the development of your body and knowledge of the fundamentals. Maximum benefit is achieved by continuing in the private setting. However if this is not possible weekly lessons can consist of Mat or Duet lessons supplemented by an occasional private. Ideally, we hope to give clients enough ownership in their workouts that they can work out daily either with their trainer, in an independent session or on their own. |
