What is Pilates?
Pilates is a system of exercises designed to educate the body by developing balance and efficient movement patterns. The use of breath, movement visualization and mental focus, stretching, coordination and strength enables the body to find a way of functioning that is unifying and expansive. By doing so we help the body to heal the imbalances that cause structural dis-ease and chronic pain.
WHO IS PILATES FOR?
No matter what you are seeking, from extreme athletes to those recovering from injury, Pilates is unique in its ability to tone and balance the musculature and overall anatomical structure. You will feel longer, stronger, more powerful and energized and in better control of your body.
HOW CAN I GET STARTED?
We recommend beginning with at least two private lessons per week. This helps to create forward momentum in the development of your body and knowledge of the fundamentals. Maximum benefit is achieved by continuing in the private setting. However, if this is not possible, weekly lessons can consist of Mat, Duet lessons or Equipment classes, supplemented by an occasional private.
